Blown Glass with John Geci

John Geci creates simple and elegant pieces; he loves the elegant simplicity of a well blown vessel.

Originally from Litchfield Connecticut, John discovered his interest in glass while studying philosophy at Hartwick College in upstate New York. After graduating from Hartwick, John moved to develop his craft at Penland School of Craft in Western North Carolina, where he is still based today. As a student at Penland, John assisted local glassblowers, developing a diverse array of techniques and approaches to the material. In 2001, he was able to develop his own line of glassware when he was awarded the first-ever glass residency at the EngeryXchange, which is a small innovative business incubator with an emphasis on sustainability. Since then, John has produce his signature, distinct and vibrant glass vessels.

In 2007, John opened his own glass shop; a studio sitting above Courtney Martin’s, his wife, pottery studio, that backs onto their gardens, and the house they share with their two children and two dogs.
